Nokia CEO predicts US innovation will dictate the future for mobile.

Nokia chief Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo has said that the PC heritage of Silicon Valley is likely to give the US the edge in mobile development.

“I think it will be driven by the US, by the Valley, and I see a lot of activity here. The US, as opposed to being a laggard, will lead this one,” he told an audience at Silicon Valley’s Churchill Club.

“The consumers are not happy with a hardware purchase anymore. They want more.

They want an experience. They want a solution.”

Nokia already has a large research centre in Silicon Valley and is looking to meet the increasing demands of the mobile consumer.

The company says it's on improving the personal information management services of its Ovi portal, which includes file sharing, synchronisation and back-up.

The aim of these improvements is apparently to give context to the internet while users are out and about, using elements such as information about their surroundings and locations of their friends. Nintendo Starts Retro Games Store

After the huge successes the firm has enjoyed with both its retro Virtual Console service and original software shop WiiWare, Nintendo has now confirmed that a similar store for DS owners is being lined up.

Users will use the same points scheme currently employed on Wii to pay for downloads, with the current Wii Points system to be renamed Nintendo Points.
